Proper application is what separates a professional-looking window decal from one with bubbles, creases, or lifting edges. The process is straightforward and requires minimal supplies.
What you need: A clean lint-free cloth, a spray bottle with soapy water (for wet application of larger decals), a squeegee or credit card, and a heat gun or hair dryer for final adhesion on large pieces.
Step 1 - Clean the surface thoroughly. Glass must be free of dust, grease, and cleaning product residue. Isopropyl alcohol wiped across the surface just before application is ideal.
Step 2 - Position the decal. For small decals, dry application works well. Peel back a corner of the backing, align the decal, and press into place. For larger window graphics, the wet method (spraying the glass lightly with soapy water before laying the decal) gives you time to slide and reposition before the adhesive sets.
Step 3 - Squeegee from center outward. Work air bubbles toward the edges systematically. Apply firm, overlapping strokes to ensure full contact between adhesive and glass.
Step 4 - Remove the transfer tape slowly. If your decal uses a transfer tape carrier (common for cut-vinyl decals), peel it back at a low angle, ensuring the vinyl stays on the glass.
Step 5 - Heat and press edges. A hair dryer warmed over the edges and any remaining small bubbles causes the adhesive to conform fully to the glass surface.

residual bubbles often disappear on their own within 24 to 48 hours as the adhesive fully cures. Tiny bubbles can also be punctured carefully with a pin and smoothed flat.
